About the Authors

Herb Perry, FCPA, FCGA, CAE, is an acknowledged expert in not-for-profit governance. He has been the senior leader in many organizations, both as staff and volunteer, and an active participant on more than 45 boards. Through his consulting practice, he has advised numerous non-profit organizations on strategic planning, leadership, volunteerism, and how to conduct productive meetings. He is the co-author of Association Management; Call to Order: Meeting Rules, Procedures and Advice for Non-Profit Organizations; The Board — A Winning Team; and The Art of Chairing: How to be an Effective Volunteer Leader of a Non-Profit Organization. Herb was the editor of the quarterly newsletter, The Association Consultants Report.

Susan Perry is an accomplished writer and editor. She has written a variety of marketing, communications and governance materials for non-profit, NGO and public sector clients, including board orientation manuals, strategic plans, newsletters, meeting analysis and reports, brochures, media kits, speeches and presentations. She participates as a volunteer and board member in a number of non-profit organizations. Susan has been a contributor to The Association Consultants Report for many years and is the co-author of The Art of Chairing and the second editions of Call to Order and The Board — A Winning Team.
